Nursery and Childcare

Carly

Carly Lasser Olander is our full-time Nursery Caregiver. Our children also love her husband Chris, who helps out when he isn't needed as our 'official church photographer!'

Carly has a long history with our NSPC families. In fact, when she first came to NCPC she was one of the children being cared for in our nursery! While she was in high school, she took time to teach in our Young Children in Worship program for K4 – 2nd Grade.

She has always enjoyed working with children and takes seriously this opportunity to help guide the children of our Covenant Family.

We realize that you are allowing us to care for your greatest treasure. We provide an atmosphere of comfort and security while your child is in the care of the nursery staff. Our nursery is located on the second floor overlooking the sanctuary. It can be accessed by the elevator or stairway at the east entrance or a stairway to the left of the sanctuary. Greeters and Ushers will also be happy to provide you directions or escort you to the nursery.

Nursery care is provided during both Sunday School and Worship Service hours from 9:00am to 11:30 am during the regular program year.

Preschool (2 & 3 year-olds)

Sunday School for two and three-year olds is held in the classroom across from the Nursery. Parents are welcome and encouraged to stay with their children until they are comfortable. Every Sunday our Nursery and Preschool are staffed with regular volunteers from 9:15 - Noon. We ask that each preschool parent set aside time to involve themselves in our preschool as a volunteer. This gives parents an opportunity to get to know our Nursery and Preschool workers and other families within the church.

Younger Elementary (K4- 2nd grade)

The Young Children and Worship program is used
in our early elementary classes K4- 2nd Grade.
Using this curriculum, we are able to provide "form"
for what they know intuitively and are able to allow
the children to express their responses.

This curriculum exposes children to the stories of
God and God's people from the Bible and the life
of the church so that they may experience each
in their own way.

Upper Elementary

WITNESS curriculum is used in the 3rd - 6th Grades. This program offers a liturgical based multi-cultural experience and is written for multiple intelligences.

Through these important years, it is our goal to provide a spiritual base structure with plenty of room for growth and curiosty so that students may begin to find their
own pathways in their faith.

Middle Schoolers

Youth (7th - 12th grade) use the Bible as a resource to explore subjects as wide-ranging as prayer to peer pressure. These classes are taught by an energetic team of adults who love kids. This year our NSPC high school youth will tackle uncharted waters during Sunday morning program time, social events and service projects.

Confirmation Class (9th Grade)

For young people who have been brought up in the church, much of what it means to be a Christian seems obvious.  They have experienced worship,  attended Sunday School classes, joined in mission and fellowship events and have an idea of why we have meetings and what happens at baptisms and at the Service of the Lord's Supper.   Confirmation Class is an opportunity to reflect on these experiences, ask honest and deep questions, fill in some blanks, share and search with peers and adult mentors. In this class, youth explore how they fit into the history and ministry of the church, and how they can be part of its ministry here at North Shore Presbyterian Church and around the world. More importantly, this class prepares youth to make their own public profession of faith...to affirm in their own thoughts and words what God has done for them through Jesus' life and death and that God's love for the world includes them.

Senior High Youth Group

High school aged teens meet on an informal
basis each month, concurrent with Sunday School. They hang out together, and with advisors, plan and participate in service projects, social outings, worship services and retreats. They are also involved in the Milwaukee Presbytery youth events and attend national youth conferences. We have multiple students serving on a variety of committes and comissions within the church as well.

The youth program requires students to reflect and engage spiritually with the world around them. We hope to send teens off post high school with a better sense of self and community so that they may venture
out and make their mark on the world.

Adult Ed

Embrace a time full of promise and challenge! On your journey, as you wonder where God is calling you, take the time to explore, question, reflect and grow in your spiritual journey. Whether you are a new member or have been around for years, attend a Sunday morning Adult Ed class to connect with others and sharpen your mind with great facillitators. We provide learning opportunities in three broad categories: theology/literature, current topics, and Bible study.
